We are pleased to announce the addition of an advanced fan class to our workshop schedule! The advanced fan class will take place on Sunday at 6:30pm and is limited to 20 attendees as well. In the basic class included in the 2-day workshop you will learn the basics such as hand positions and fan control. This 90-minute class will take you to the next level and show you not only the art of revealing and concealing but you will even learn choreography!

The cost of this class is $40 per person and you must bring your own fans. For those that need a set of fans we are pleased to be able to offer a discount for those attending this workshop with Ostrich.com! Using the coupon code that will be supplied to you once registered you will be able to purchase a fan for the discounted price you would get if you were ordering 6! (Please note this discount code will only be available to registered attendees of the advanced fan class.) This way you can decide which pair of fans is right for you and choose if you would like to assemble them yourself or would like them shipped completed. The cost for a pair of fans will range from $170 to $1500 depending on your choice of designs. Jo recommends the 30 inch junior or 50 inch professional sets. Please be sure to order your fans no less than 30 days before the workshop to make sure you have them in time!

Just FYI; the workshop is almost 75% sold out so hurry over to the registration site: http://texastease.eventbrite.com

For more information on Jo:

If you take only one class, this should be it! There is only a total of *20* spots open to this eclusive event!
Jo Weldon has learned directly from the ladies who performed during the golden age of twentieth century striptease, and she's ready to show you the best of the best!

Learn the sexy shimmy, the tantalizing glove peel, the devastating bump n grind, and the dazzling tassel-twirl from an internationally recognized striptease expert with decades of performing experience. Many former students perform in New York at prestigious burlesque venues. You can, too! Or, you can take a burlesque workshop simply because the workshop itself is a party! It's even more fun when you bring a friend!

The workshop will consist of two days of intensive instruction (10 hours per day with frequent breaks); the first day will focus on burlesque dance (basic moves, chair, fan, peel, and floor) classes, and the second day of skit burlesque (ideas, themes, music) classes and resources (costuming, shopping, props). The first day will also include a basic fan dance class, featuring lessons on hand positions, types of fans, and basic fan dance moves. An additional advanced fan dance class including ostrich feather fans will be offered if supplies are available. Different price ranges for different fan options will be offered when availability of the fans is confirmed. This will be announced upon confirmation and will be a separate registration from registration for the weekend workshop.

There will be frequent breaks as well as longer breaks for lunch and dinner. Please dress in dance or yoga apparel; fitted shirts or tank tops, leggings or yoga pants and the like. Please bring two pairs of shoes; ideally one pair of character heels or dance shoes and another pair of higher heels for performance or 'show'. You are also welcome to bring any burlesque costumes you are looking for help or feedback on or to practice in. A notebook would also be a very good thing to bring as well; handouts will be given but you are free to take your own notes as well.

Hi all,

We have a burlesque teacher coming to Medway, Kent to show us some burlesque technique for belly dance/burlesque fusion. Details below!

DATE: SUNDAY 19th AUGUST 2007 - TIME: 2-4PM

This is a basic burlesque introductory workshop. You will learn a simple burlesque routine using basic props such as feather boas, gloves and hats. Dress sexy and womanly, high heels are a must.

Ideas for clothing are; corsets, babydolls, bra and full knickers, feel free to wear stockings and suspenders. There will be no striptease on this workshop as this is all about encouraging you to move and feel confident with the props without worrying about removing clothes.

Burlesque can also improve your confidence and give your spirit a boost, as well as encouraging you to enjoy being a woman! This will be a fun workshop!

Please bring elbow length or longer gloves and a feather boa! Please choose high heels with a substantial heel (NO stilettos) to avoid damaging the studio floor.

Cost is £35. Payment required by Saturday 5th August 2007.

E-mail nikki@raqs-sharqi.com for more details.

Venue will be confirmed shortly, but will definitely be held at either Strood Leisure Centre, or Roko’s Fitness Club, Gillingham. Both venues are in Medway in Kent. Maps and directions will be provided.
