Re: Where's your favorite place to shop....
Sat, November 10, 2007 - 6:00 PMFor corsets, I used to model for an Edwardian corset maker called Hoss. They're located in downtown LA near the mart. They do a few vinyl styles as well as mostly double-lined satin.
There's also a store on Haight in San Francisco that sells metal boned corsets in satin asian prints. They're sturdy and the real deal at both these places.
There's a 1930's style dress store on Haight east of Ben and Jerry's in SF that I highly reccommend. If you're looking for a formal beaded gown that clings to your bum, this is the place. All the accessories and store decor really make you feel like you're in Paris or old Hollywood. They have lots of sparkly accessories for any budget.
www.pinupgirlclothing.com does have some basic sexy swimsuits and dresses although ttheir line has been pretty much the same for years. They do have bright prints and good shoes. -

Favorite Place to Shop!
Wed, July 15, 2009 - 12:49 AMDefinitely Woo Vintage in Gastown! Natalie, the owner is so helpful and REALLY knows her vintage. She gets new stuff all the time, and good quality stuff from the 40s, 50s and 60s! Plus, she's great at giving discounts and also recommending Halloween goodies!
Online I highly recommend these shops for the vintage-obsessed, although most are for a pretty penny:
For cocktail and evening dresses:
www.poshgirlvintage.com
www.vintageous.com
This one is strictly for window shopping, as most are collectors items:
www.thefrock.com
This website is really creative because they create different vintage looks
by collaging magazine articles, etc., and then link the images to an infinite number
of great sites both modern and vintage.
